Many of these San Clemente homes have been well-preserved, and are now some of the most sought-after properties in Southern California. Casa Pacifica, home of former U.S. President, Richard Nixon, is a great example of one of these estate homes. Development since the 20s has been well managed. Newer homes and San Clemente condos often pay homage to Hanson's vision.

San Clemente's business and retail community also includes many of the same merchants that have helped the city grow over the years. Avenida Del Mar, the city's shopping showcase, is an eclectic mix of independent local shops and destination stores with something for everyone.
