
California home sales softened in September as the market transitions into the off season. Home sales increased 6.9% and the median price inched up 4.3% from September 2014.
The California Association of Realtors closely monitors and analyzes trends in the residential real estate industry. The table below contains the latest reported existing home sales series, median home prices, unsold inventory index, median time on market, first-time buyer housing affordability index, and the latest mortgage rates.
California home prices decreased 2.3% in September 2015 compared to the previous year, the number of sales decreased 1.5% while the amount of unsold inventory remained the same%. Not such great news for the California real estate market!

California home sales cooled in August 2015 following a hotter than usual summer. However, prices posted higher year over year for the seventh straight month.
Single family home sales dropped to 432,000 in August from 449,000 in July 2015 and increased from 395,000 in August 2014. The median sales price jumped to $493,000 in August from $488,000 in July 2015 and increased from $481,000 in August 2014.
