turkey_trot_2011_185Now in its 34th year, the Dana Point Turkey Trot has been named one of America’s best Thanksgiving Day runs by Fitness Magazine. It is the ninth largest Thanksgiving Day race in the nation and second largest in California, and has become an Orange County tradition with more than 16,000 runners, walkers, volunteers, spectators, sponsors and vendors.

Through “Miles for Meals,” a portion of the proceeds from the Dana Point Turkey Trot will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization working to eliminate hunger in Orange County. For every dollar donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, three meals can be provided to a person in need.

No, this isn’t just another timely spooky story, although it just may have to do with ghosts!  Be you a believer or a scoffer, the fact is that there are pieces of Orange County real estate on the market which are purported to be haunted and thus far more difficult to sell than an ordinary home.  Known as “stigmatized” properties, these houses have the reputation of being haunted or are the site of a previous violent crime--and the perception of ghosts and gore is not easy to erase.
