Sales of California distressed home sales increased in April 2011 according to the California Associaiton of Realtors.

  • The total share of all distressed property types sold in California declined in April to 48 percent, down from 51 percent in March and down from 49 percent in April 2010.
  • Non-distressed sales made up the remaining share at 52 percent in April, up from 49 percent in March and up from 51 percent in April 2010.
  • Of the California distressed properties sold, the total share of REO (real estate-owned) sales was 28 percent in April, down from 31 percent in March, and down from 30 percent in April 2010.

April 2011 statistics show San Clemente CA had 86 new foreclosure homes with an average foreclosure sales price of $579,889 vs. an average sales price of $649,764, according to RealtyTrac.com, resulting in a $69,875 savings.

There were 51 new foreclosures in the 92673 zip code and 350 new foreclosures in 92672, for a total of 86 new foreclosures in San Clemente CA. 1 in every 257 housing units received a foreclosure filing in April.

The 2009 Census Migration Report shows Californians love Texas and Maryland folks love California.

  • Texas gained an estimated 61,270 residents in 2009 who said that they had lived in California a year earlier.
  • Conversely, the Census found 35,104 new Californians who lived in the Lone Star state in 2008.
  • Texas netted population growth of 26,166 folks from California in 2009 — highest net migration among the 50 states (plus D.C. and Puerto Rico) away from the Golden State.
  • Next came Arizona with a net population gain of 12,881 from here. Third was Oregon that saw a 10,818 bump from California.

Housing affordability continued to improve throughout the state in the first quarter of 2011, led by low interest rates and home prices, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) reported today.

The percentage of buyers who could afford to purchase a median-priced, single-family home in California rose to 53 percent in the first quarter of 2011, up from 50 percent in fourth-quarter 2010 and 50 percent in first- quarter 2010, according to C.A.R.’s Traditional Housing Affordability Index (HAI).

C.A.R. will match contributions from California REALTORS®, associations of REALTORS®, and affiliates, up to an aggregate total of $25,000, made to the AREAA Education Foundation during the next few months.
