Dana Point Events
Dana Point Harbor becomes a forest of sails and ship rigging in early September during the annual Tall Ships Festival. Historic sailing ships from all over sail to town for the festival, the largest gathering of historic sailing ships on the west coast. Iconic vessels that have made an appearance here include the Pilgrim, Spirit of Dana Point, Exy Johnson, Californian, and American Pride. The festival includes a great schooner parade, thrilling tallship cannon battles, public ship tours, and live music at Baby Beach Park. All these events are free and open to the public.
Tall Ships Festival
Doheny Blues Festival - Held at Doheny State Beach, there are two main stages placed at opposite ends of a large grass field, and both stages are within 100 yards of the Pacific Ocean. There is also an International Food Court and large Vendor Faire as well as the Backporch. The landscaped grass field at the north end of the park is where the festival is held.

Harvest Festival of Dulcimers - Appalachian mountain folk celebrated the Harvest season with music and feasting, and Dana Point continues that tradition every september with its Festival of Dulcimers. Co-sponsored by the Southern California Dulcimer Heritage Group, the Dana Point event is a celebration of the large stringed instrument, and other traditional instruments like the Hawaiian slack-key guitar, the ukulele, and the Irish Drum. The event includes instrumental and singing workshops, and a lively appalachian concert.
Shakespeare - Dana Point - Local actors take the stage June for the Dana Point's outdoor Shakespeare production, sponsored by the city, and free to attend with a donation of canned food to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Performances of classic plays such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, and MacBeth usually run for two weeks in late August at Heritage Park.
Water=Life Surf Fest - This is Dana Point's premier surfing event, featuring an entire weekend of rides, contests, games, and live music. Pro-surfers compete and demonstrate for free at this festival, with all proceeds from the weekend given to the Ocean Institute.
