The California housing market lost momentum in November 2015 as new mortgage disclosure rules delayed closings.

The number of homes sold decreased from 404,000 to 370,000 or 8.4% compared to the previous month and decreased from 376,000 or 1.5% from the previous year. The median price dropped from $476,000 in Nov to $475,000, a 0.2% decrease. However, California home prices increased 6.7% from the previous year.

The California Association of Realtors closely monitors and analyzes trends in the residential real estate industry. The table below contains the latest reported existing home sales series, median home prices, unsold inventory index, median time on market, first-time buyer housing affordability index, and the latest mortgage rates.

California median home price decreased 6.8% in November 2015 to $475,000 compared to the previous year, the number of sales decreased 1.6%, and the amount of unsold inventory decreased 2.3%. Market times dropped 6.7%. Not such great news for the California real estate market!

There are only a few days left to get pictures of the kids with Santa. Be sure to come to Downtown Laguna Beach to visit Santa in the next week before he heads back to the North Pole in preparation for his big night!

village art faire


The San Clemente Village Art Faire is sponsored by the Downtown Business Association and is held on the first Sunday of each month from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

The Art Faire is a decades old San Clemente tradition whose goal is to put gifted artists and craftspeople in touch with their local community. Approximately 60 artists come from all over Southern California and attract visitors from near and far.

Works being offered for sale include a beautiful selection of hand-crafted work from photography to fine art, jewelry, woodwork, botanicals, apothecary, leather, wearables, ceramics, home decor, fused/blown glass, metal work, and much more.

The Village Art Faire is a juried event and only accepts artisans who handcraft and sell their own work.

California home sales are ending 2015 with a push upward as October homes sales rose 2.5% to 113.4. Pending sales have been increasing year over year since November 2014 and have seen double-digit increase for nine straight months.

At the regional level, pending home sales higher on a year over year basis throughout the state. San Francisco Bay Area pending sales rose 16.1%. Southern California sales are up 9.0%; Central Valley pending sales increased 18.6%

Flat home prices and higher interest rates reduced the number of California households who could buy a home to 29%. The median sales price in the 3rd quarter of 2015 for a California home was $487,420.
